It is governed by an Executive Council (EC) headed by the Defence Minister as its president and the Chief Minister of West Bengal as Vice President. Among the officials, the Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Defence and the Principal Secretary, Sports & Youth Services. The government of West Bengal is the secretaries of the Institute. Representatives of various ministries both at the centre and the state government are the members of the executive council.
