Instruction

ELIGIBILITY. A trainee should be able to communicate, read and understand either Hindi or English.

  1. ADVANCE MOUNTAINEERING COURSE: Trainees graded “A” in Basic Mountaineering Course from HMI Darjeeling, NIM Uttarkashi, JIM Pahalgawn, NIMAS Dirang, ABVIMAS Manali, HAWS C/O 56 APO, ITBP Trg Centre Auli, and SGMI Gangtok are eligible to apply for this course.
  2. METHODS OF INSTRUCTION AND SEARCH & RESCUE COURSE: Trainees graded “A” in Advance Mountaineering Course with a minimum education qualification of 12th pass can apply.
  3. EXPEDITION: Trainee should have completed Basic Mountaineering Course from any of the recognised Institutes namely HMI Darjeeling, NIM Uttarkashi, JIM Pahalgawn, NIMAS Dirang, ABVIMAS Manali, HAWS C/O 56 APO, ITBP Trg Centre Auli, and SGMI Gangtok, are eligible to apply for this course.
  4. TREKKING EXPEDITION TO HMI BASE CAMP: Trainee should be physically and medically fit to undergo the trekking expedition.
  5. Conduct of special Mountaineering/Trekking/Specialised Training/Camps will be done on an actual cost basis.

REPETITION OF COURSE. Courses conducted at HMI are highly subsidised, and the vacancies are limited. Repeating a course by an individual leads to denial of opportunity to another deserving candidate. One cannot repeat the same course at a subsidised fee even if the individual had been awarded ‘B/C/U’ Grade in the course. In case it is found that a trainee is repeating the course, he/she would be sent back, the course fee forfeited & certificate, if issued, will be treated null and void. There is no restriction on the repetition of courses for foreigners and individuals undergoing special courses, which are conducted on an actual cost basis.

Please Read carefully before applying
1.Fill out the online application form provided on the website. Ensure that all the information entered is accurate and complete.
2.Upload the following documents during the submission of the application:
a)         HMI filled Medical Form: Download the medical form from website and fill it out completely. Ensure all required medical information is provided accurately.
b)         Identity Proof: Upload a scanned copy of any of the following identity proofs - Adhar Card, Voter Card, or Passport. Ensure that the uploaded document is clear and legible. Non-Indian Applicants should upload their passport.
c)         Passport Photo: Upload a recent passport-size photograph of yourself.
d)         (Optional) If you have attended any courses at HMI, upload a copy of your Basic Course Certificate for the Advance Course, and Additionally, attach your Advance Course Certificate for the MOI Course and Search & Rescue.
3.Complete the payment process online as per the prescribed fee structure. Payment options will be available on the website.
4.Once the application, documents, and payment are successfully submitted, your application will be processed and you will receive an email regarding your submission.(Note: Submission of the application form and payment does not guarantee a final confirmation of your seat. The final confirmation will only be provided after the scrutiny of your medical form and other required documents).
5.Upon successful verification/scrutiny of the submitted documents and payment, you will receive a confirmation email/notification regarding your admission status.
6.Follow any additional instructions (if provided) in the confirmation email/notification to complete the admission process.
